One thing I struggled with in my relationship with God was reading the bible. Mannnn I thought it was the most boring thing in the world. I would rather watch a sermon. But as I've gotten closer to God, he's shown me that I can't always go off of someone else's faith. I can't rely on a Pastor to speak to me the way God needs to. I can't depend on my mom's faith or my dad's faith to help me understand who God truly is. Would you go to a Honda dealer to get your jeep fixed? No. You have to go to the source, the maker, the creator. The one who created and formed you in your mother's womb. Jeremiah 29:11. God knows everything about you. He knows the hurt, he knows what situations you've gone through. He's all knowing and his word is in the bible.
I've read so many stories about people who were being led by God to do some amazing things. They built their relationship with God by listening to his word. They had the privilege of sitting in Jesus's presence listening to him talk about God. Now we have that same privilege by reading his word. You may think just because you can't understand the bible that you shouldn't try to read it. I bet if you lose your remote you search the whole house to find it. You look in places you would never even think the remote would be in. That's how we have to approach the bible. We have do the research.
Get you a bible that has the translation that is best for you. I personally like the New International Version or the New Living Translation version. There are many different translations of the bible. It's a game changer. There are so many instructions and revelations in the bible. I can't tell you how many times God has spoken to me just by reading it. If you are confused on where to start or what to read, pray before you open your bible and ask God to guide you. Ask him to lead you to a chapter or verse that he wants to speak to your heart through.
