“Pursuing Forgiveness”

To be completely honest with you, forgiveness was the hardest thing I'd ever have to do in my life. You mean to tell me I can't hold onto this pain? You mean I can't seek revenge on this person after they've done me wrong? You mean I can't stay in my feelings about this situation for as long as I want to? No! Where is the healing in that? Forgiveness is crucial to your healing process. I had to get to a point where I needed God so much that I wanted to pursue forgiveness so I can be healed from what was holding me back. You can't expect to be renewed and not have to forgive the people or person who hurt you. God wants us to forgive others so we can let go of the pain it causes. Not forgiving someone bears a much bigger burden than actually experiencing the hurt. You go years being tormented by the thoughts of what happened to you. You go years hating someone. You spend years replaying the event or words spoken to you trying to understand WHY.

Out of all the things we do each day, do you think God replays our sins in his mind over and over trying to understand WHY we do what we do? No. He forgives us for everything we do. Even if we've done them repeatedly. He sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus came so that we could be forgiven. How many of us are willing to die to our emotions so we can be able to forgive someone. He came so that we may have life and life abundantly. John 10:10. That didn't mean you could go through life experiencing the same pain and frustration over and over. We weren't meant to go through life as hurting vessels by holding onto the past. We go through things so we can become stronger and wiser. Not weaker!

Forgiveness is crucial to your spirituality. How can we ask God to forgive us for our sins when we haven't forgiven others of their sins. Matthew 6:14-15. Not being able to forgive delays your promise. It delays your blessings. God wants to bless you and bring you into prosperity, but CHOOSING to not forgive someone, is the opposite of what God intends for you. Pray and ask God to reveal to you who needs your forgiveness in your life. Ask him to give you strength to forgive them. Ask him to teach you HOW to forgive. There was so much betrayal in the bible against Jesus. God gave him the strength to forgive all who had sinned against him and to move on with his ministry. You have to forgive as Jesus did and move on sis!
